Liberators

Liberators focuses on Lee Dawson, a wounded Iraq War veteran, who’s encouraged by an empathetic VA counselor to overcome the struggles of his battlefield injuries and move on with his life – even though he is severely stifled by a bizarre alliance between his mother (Sylvia) and his best friend and fellow veteran (Gary). Lee responds to his situation by retreating into a life of hopeless fantasy and resentment – suffering continuous depression.

Liberators examines the lasting effects of the post-9/11 mindset and the “War on Terror” – both on those who served their country and on those who loved and supported them from home. This emotional drama explores the difficulties faced by war veterans returning home and their inability to heal from their traumatic experiences – largely because of a broken system that has failed them.
