An elderly man suffering from dementia struggles to understand his situation and maintain a relationship with his daughter – even as he forgets how he ended up in a senior care memory facility.

Drama - One-Act

Facility was a selection of the William Inge Festival in 2017. At the reading there, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Beth Henley served as one of the show's reviewers/commenters.

Facility was first performed at the Minnesota Fringe Festival in 2017, and won a “Best in Fringe” award.

Running time: about 45 minutes

Setting:
The stage is separated into two main areas, with the larger area containing Lionel’s bed, a chair, a night stand, and a toilet. On the other (smaller) side of the stage is another area that contains a small desk and two chairs, and remains unilluminated unless being used.

The present.
